Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration Projects in Kenya

Turnkey refrigeration projects for food processing, cold storage, pharmaceutical and logistics operations.

Finstar Industrial Systems delivers refrigeration projects for processing plants, cold stores, distribution hubs, supermarkets and pharmaceutical storage — supplying the plant, installing it, and maintaining it afterwards. It is the engineering side of a business that also stocks compressors, evaporators, refrigerants, oils, copper pipe, controllers and the tools a refrigeration system needs.

That stock matters after commissioning as much as before it: when a compressor, valve or controller fails, the replacement is usually on the shelf in Nairobi rather than on a shipping schedule.

What the work covers

  • Refrigeration plant selection, supply and installation
  • Compressors, evaporators and controls
  • Copper pipework, insulation, brazing, evacuation and refrigerant charging
  • Replacement of failed components and system upgrades
  • Planned maintenance and breakdown repair

Typical sites

  • Food and beverage processing
  • Cold stores and distribution hubs
  • Supermarkets and commercial refrigeration
  • Pharmaceutical and laboratory storage
  • Agriculture and floriculture
  • Hospitality

Before you ask for a quote

The points that most often change the size, cost and running cost of a industrial refrigeration project. Thinking them through first makes the quotation faster and more accurate.

Refrigerant choice

The catalogue covers R22, R134a, R404A, R407, R410A, R507, R32, R290 and R600a, among others. For new plant, weigh efficiency and local service-gas availability against the R22 phase-out and future HFC phase-down.

Redundancy

Where a breakdown would spoil stock, consider two smaller systems rather than one large one, or a standby unit, so a single failure does not take the whole room down.

Oil and compressor compatibility

Compressor oil must match both the compressor and the refrigerant — mineral, alkylbenzene and POE oils are not interchangeable. Getting this wrong is a common cause of early compressor failure.

Maintenance access

Leave clearance around condensing units and evaporators for cleaning and service. Dirty condenser coils raise head pressure and running cost long before anything visibly fails.

What to send with your enquiry

Drawings, a BOQ, equipment schedules, model numbers or photographs of existing equipment are all useful. If you only have some of this, send what you have.

  • What is being cooled or stored, the target temperature and daily load
  • Existing equipment make and model, if replacing or extending
  • Preferred or existing refrigerant
  • Site location, power supply and where the plant can be placed
  • Drawings, BOQ or equipment schedule, if available

FAQ

Industrial Refrigeration: common questions

Answers to questions engineers, facility managers and procurement teams ask before starting a project.

What kind of refrigeration projects does Finstar take on?
Industrial and commercial refrigeration for food processing, cold storage, supermarkets, pharmaceutical storage, logistics and hospitality — from plant supply and installation to maintenance.
Can you supply spare parts for an existing refrigeration system?
Yes. Finstar stocks compressors, evaporators, controllers, refrigerants, oils, copper pipe and fittings. Send the make and model of the existing equipment so the right part can be confirmed.
Do you help choose a refrigerant for a new system?
Yes. The team can review the application, temperature range and existing equipment and advise on refrigerant and compatible oil as part of the quotation.
