Steam demand
Size the boiler on the peak steam demand of the connected process equipment, plus distribution losses and a sensible margin — not only on the average load.
Fuel
Light oil, heavy oil, gas and dual-fuel burners each have different running costs, storage and handling requirements. Fuel availability at the site often decides the choice.
Water treatment
Untreated feedwater causes scale and corrosion that shorten boiler life and cut efficiency. Plan feedwater treatment and blowdown from the start; Finstar supplies the plant, and can point you to a water-treatment chemical supplier for the dosing programme.
Statutory inspection
Steam boilers and pressure vessels in Kenya must be examined by an approved person under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Build inspection and certification into the project plan.
